Stellenrust Old Bush Vine Chenin Blanc - Grapes for this wine are harvested from a 43-year-old vineyard on our Bottelary property. This vineyard plays very much differently from any of our other Chenin vineyards as it is the only Chenin Blanc block that receives a majority of morning sun rather than afternoon sun.

The Douwe Steyn is one of very few Cabernet Sauvignons still made of grapes harvested from bush vine and honors the founder of Stellenrust, the Castle of Good Hope builder and one of the first settlers in South Africa who bought Stellenrust in 1692.

This three-bottle gift set demonstrates the diversity of this Cinderella grape and is a showcase of the multiplicity of styles of Chenin Blanc produced from the same juice, treated differently in the cellar. Crafting three separate wines, using the same parcel of vines and a single tranche of grape juice, is the epitome of Chenin Blanc’s diversity, so contextualizing and naming each of the trio accordingly is apt.
